Everything flows into the sea:

•    80% of pollution found in the sea comes from the land.
•    Nearly 30% of coral reefs, essential for the equilibrium of the oceans, have already disappeared.
•    50% of world pollution is found in coastal waters caused by increased development and urbanisation along the shoreline.
•    75% of fish stocks are nearly exhausted or over-exploited.

The World Ocean’s potential is threatened and consequently our own survival too.  Each of us must act now in our daily lives and our everyday actions.  You can make a difference. These are the prerequisites for a new type of development: it’s called sustainable development. It will enable us to protect and preserve our planet’s resources for future generations, as well as ensuring their well-being.
